about

Jamaican music and jazz grooves is the sound of Simbiosi, the second album from The Gramophone Allstars from Barcelona.

TGA was founded by saxophone player Genís Bou, who combines musical talent and young musicians. The great female singer Judit Neddermann and the double bass player Vic Moliner, are two young artists with a notable projection in the jazz scene in Catalunya and Spain. Also featured on this album are some other great musical talents like Joan Díaz and Jon Robles, recognized musicians from the spanish jazz scene.

Simbiosi blends, with elegance and sophisticated arrangements, TGA’s own compositions, some soul covers and, mostly, jazz standards covers. However, there is also room for improvisation. After one and a half years of hard work, the band recorded this studio album playing live, all together, as the jazz band’s tradition.

Raised as a tribute to the vinyl, Simbiosi is divided in two different “sides” which have a different personality, separated by and short improvised interlude. The first “side”, Aromes Jamaicanes (Jamaican Flavors), is TGA’s Jamaican face, the music they are devoted to since they started as a band, while the second side, Atmosferes Jazzisitiques (Jazzy Atmospheres), represents a personal part, more singular, with a lot of jazz harmonies, refined arrangements and wicked solos, without losing the Jamaican feel.
